Best knot

Hi everyone,

From your experience, what is the most reliable knot to use when attaching jighead to the leader?

Cheers,
Alex

Uni knot. I used to use the locked blood but with the way I tie it it used to slip once in a while.

Uni Knot

Most people use the blood knot and this is fine for average mono lines but for flurocarbon lines it bite into the line so all the pressures on one poit making it easier to break. The uni knot however spreads the load of the line over more of the line meaning there's no specific weak point.

This may just be superstition but if it saves me my BIG fish i'm happy to tie it cos its really easy and after a bit of prctice u can tie it pretty quick.

Go the uni

Uni knot's the go for security
But strangely enough i prefer to use a loop knot (leftys or harro's
loop knot) on all my s.p's & h.b's as i get more action out
of the lure (especially stick baits) & therefore more consistent
results but i don't believe this is as stong as the uni..

I used to do my knots as blood, but they used to always slip, and leave me screaming at the water, since learning the uni knot I have a much more relaxing fishing experience.

Clinch knot for me when using jighead's...

For hardbodies I like to use a Uni knot left with a small space between the lure and the knot or a Lefty Krey' loop knot...

Gav,

But a lot of people prefer the loop knots to not impede the lures action
Pull the knot up the line to form a swimming loop with the uni They way you have a great action and a strong knot.....

Gav,

It can be a pain when it slip and can wear the line down.....

You just have to keep an eye on it and re tie if it looks weak...

I use it for bass minnows as it helps there action HEAPS!! Eyeballs not so much but it certainly wouldn't hinder their action.

In order to get the best of both worlds I tried to combine the Uni and Loop knots by tying and overhand knot, passing the tag end through the eye of the jig, back though the overhand knot and then tying a Uni knot.

Tighten up the Uni knot and it slides down to the overhand knot and stops leaving a loop. Only problem/difficulty was getting the loop to a small size.

In the end it was too fiddly and I went back to snaps for hardbodies and the Uni knot (solely) for jig heads. I will also admit to putting jigs onto snaps when I am feeling lazy - and it has worked (as in caught fish)!

So feel free to experiment and see what works for you.
