Shimano Stradic c4i+ 2500 or 3000?
Hi, looking to purchase one of these and not sure of any advantage of the 2500 over the 3000 (HGFB models). Same weight and price yet the 3000 will have greater line capacity if that is ever needed. Fishing flats and beach gutters mainly with HB and SP. Interested in peoples thoughts. Thanks

I use the 3000 on a 7' Poison by Shimano/Jackall on bream....going to depend on your rod but my thoughts are leaning towards a 4000 size reel.

I'm after a new rod too. Fishing mostly the flats with flicking of SPs, HBs and poppers mostly below 10g. Fishing pretty light targeting bream and whiting but would like to have a good chance at the occasional larger flatty. Think the 3000 is high enough for that. The gutters will be only occasionally. Any further suggestions on rods greatly appreciated too. Thanks guys |

Ok 3000 is good for me as your intended target is in that range. Spool diameter will give good castability. Rod choice is budget and length dependant...too many variables for me to point at a particular rod though I would tend to be lookig at 7'6"....and almost parabolic. That will let you load up with lightest braid and 3lb flurocarbon leader.
Benefit of the parabolic is to cushion somewhat and allow you to go super light. Having said that mates use 7' fast taper and fish super light with not too many bust off. I like the length so I can hold the rod high and avoid any rock shell or snags. Interested to see how you decide👍 |
