Samurai Kestrel 17 or 20 lb
Gday,
Just had a shop floor play with the Kestrel. Feeling it, though trying to decide between the 10-17lb (351) and 10-20lb (402). Like the balnce of the 17lb more. Keen to here people's experiences with it and what the 17lb or 20lb can handle.

They both have the VSS seat, yeah? I had one of the heavier models and it felt just a tad overrated in terms of line class so depending on the intended application I'd probably aim for a line class above advertised, but that's just me.

I still haven't used my 25-40lb Kestrel, but in hand, it feels just a tad heavier than my MB RC OZ 6-20lb. Definitely feels light for a max 40lb rod. |

That was my initial impression, that the 10-17 lb felt like a 3-6 kg in the tip. Some of the product reviews suggest it's got lower section grunt.
Essentially a versatile rod that's got power without being a pool cue, so can still use for jacks/snaps in a pinch.

I could definitely load mine to the hilt, they're a very comfortable rod to fight fish with. I did notice that the 10-17lb is listed as having an extra fast action, when the rest of the range is only fast, so I'd expect the tip section to be very light in comparison.

I think both would be quite nice, I have had the 25-40lb in the old Samurai Reaction and I thought the 25lb version was very nice as well. But the 7ft 25-40lb Kestrel looks perfect for me, and I`ll be grabbing one of those in the near future. Depends if you want 1 pc or 2, both your options are different?
cheers
