Nelson or Marlo?

Hi guys ,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on holding a Vic bream classic at Marlo or tyres instead of Nelson so us NSW fisho's could go to more of your events throughout the year?

Look forward to your responses good or bad.

cheers

Gary

nelson is an irreplaceable place. if anything, hopkins river is too small for all the boats it gets..
plus up theree you nsw blokes have a bit more variety in species, down here in our rivers we pretty much just have bream, mulloway, perch, trout and flathead to the east,

Marlo is a great spot with big fish but would be a bit like the hoppies, not a verry big arena so it would have a restricted feild
Tyres on the other hand would be a good place plenty of room for all and some reasonable fish as well with some monster flatties

Hi guy's,

Thanks for the replies yes i agree tyres would be the pick maybe the hopkins could be replaced with tyres then more boats could enter in that round . The upside to this would be a bigger prize pool, keep the opinions coming.
Would love to here from Bill Hartshorne on this ?
Ps I am not trying to rock the boat (pardon the pun), and if you don't agree then kindly tell me there might be a valid reason that i don't know about.

cheers

Gary

Nelson is just to sweet of a place to take off the calendar, if anything swap hopkins for marlo, hopkins is way to small of a river to be flogged by 50 odd boats

There's already Mallacoota and Gippsland Lakes (held out of Metung), which are in the East and quite accesible for you Canadians.

The Glenelg River is quite unique and the only major waterway in that part of Australia. It warrants it's own annual events, both ABT and Classic. It is a must visit system for all Aussie fisho's, just like Tassie, the Hawkesbury, Lake Macquarie, the Clarence, etc...

Just ask Dave Welfare (NSW), he's made the trek more than once.

My 2 bob's worth.

Hi mate,

Fair call i will probably make the 14hr trek one day it sounds like you guys are very attached to the place it must be special , i just thought if it was closer to nsw then you would draw more boats and bigger prize pools to the comps .

cheers

Breamiton. I agree they are a long way to go, Mallacoota is a very successful comp from what Ive seen. Either Tyers or Marlo Both good venues.

Hi Nordy,

Yes mallacoota is a very successful venue and i would say my favorite place bar non.

I would love to see a comp at tyres instead of hopkins then we could have a full field and everyone could attend .

what are your thoughts guys ?

cheers

Gary

I reckon Marlo would be great, but the simple fact is that it would really struggle to provide accomodation to that many fishos, then Orbost is over 20kms away........agree the Hopkins is to small

Hi mate,

Yes marlo would probably struggle with accomodation but tyres could easily cover the accomodation.

I wonder how many people camp when attending the comps?

cheers

Gary

Marlo would be a bit small for 40+ boats!! It's almost a bit small for 40+ yaks so boats would definitely struggle. Crap fishery anyway
