Gold Coast: what straight through flouro you recommend
Hi guys,
I am after some advice on what poundage straight through flouro would be best for chasing Gold Coast bream around pontoons. I am leaning towards 4lb Sniper. Thanks in advance.

2 or 3lb sniper or basic fc will do the trick perfectly

Go 3lb sniper if your fishing around Pontoons. 4lb will be hard to cast and is a bit overkill. You can put a lot of pressure on 3lb straight through!

Thanks guys for the prompt replies. I haven't been bream in for long and enjoying trying out new techniques. Got my first top water bream last week on a sammy 65. Unexpectedly got a few estuary cod on top water as well. Go figure!

I just switched a few combos over to FC. Caught bream after bream after bream today around the rock walls on 3lb sniper. Didn't get busted off once. It cast great and you can put pressure on fish. I found myself slowing down the spool on bigger fish with no issue. LOVE IT!!

hey nabs would there be that much difference between 3lb and 4lb? thickness wise? never fished with straight through fc before only used it for leaders, im guessing its the stiffness or suppleness that would effect it coming off the spool, would that be right??

Hey,
4lb is quite thick compared to 3lb - both samples being sniper. I've run fluro for a number of years now and started off with 4lb but found it didn't really give me much of an advantage. I then went to 2lb and with Basic FC (I think its that, was a while back) I did cast some lures off and found the middle ground with 3lb straight through. You can put a fair amount of pressure of fish with 3lb, more than you think you could. Sniper FC or Toray Bawo Finesse are the 2 brands that I use and recommend and I've even gone back to 2lb for those really tough days or when I feel like more of a challange. Cheers, Dion.
