Not having used a Lox, im not qualified to compare the 2.
But i Use a Nitro vapor 6'6" 1-3kg balanced with a luvias 2500 (old stlye luvias). I just love it, its light weight, imparts a perfect action on small placcies and even handles large silver trevally and EP's easily. I love my nitro!!!!! |

The Lox look came about at request. I have suggested to several rod companies they curb the bling. We have been making similar styles alot longer than just about anyone. Apart from the blanks the style etc has been around longer than some may suspect. Split grips were used over 30 years ago for instance. And before you argue, I have rod recipe books going back several decades.
As for broken tips. I have had a couple more lox through the doors than nitro. But sell a hell of a lot more Lox. For such light rods I have only had a few of each literally across four shops. All of those were customer fault. Both are quality. I think that everyone has been influenced by everyone before. That is art and that manufacture. Look at the car industry etc it's called progression. |

its all well and good that LOX have been made by request. but im not too sure if they should have used the nitro design.

Hey everyone, new to the site. I own 6 Nitros and love everyone of them, from what i have been told, the Lox rods are made on an older blank of the Nitros , this may be wrong but it gives a reason to why they are similar, although the Nitros are a far better rod. I have used both rods and after using the nitro the Lox felt like complete crap. T-Ledg, have you used the other Vapor's, just wondering as i am thinking of getting a 60 or 66 as a softplastic rod instead of my 70, and using my 70 for HB and Blades etc??? What are your thoughts

hey mate
the 60 and the 66 are ALOT lighter and accurate then the 70. i use my 70 for hb's and have no complaints. im thinking of buying the 60 for the yak!

Yeah, i found that, i use my 70 for the exact same, but it is also great with blades, the 60 was my next choice for SP and would match it with one of the new certates, not sure on size yet, either 1003, or 2000, but will get to that later, but i was also considering it for the Yak. What other nitros do you use??? Also on the topic of Lox v Nitro, have seen the new Lox baitcasters, in my opinon it just highlights how much better the Nitros are, has anyone else seen the new Lox Baitcasters???

Ok Sweet, The 2004 seems like a great reel, need to match it up to the other vapors, its either a 1003, 2004 or 2000 certate for my next vapor, Great Rods deserve Great Reels

LOX are better value for money IMO. They're not a Nitro, but are close. And considering how much you save I'd go a LOX.
But IMO there are better rods out there than both of them, i.e. better quality and better value for money.

Although some people think Lox are great rods because of their value, imo i believe the reason they have a cheaper warranty, even if it is only by $10 and each rod comes with a rod tube is to make up the difference in Quality, although the Lox rods are good for some things Nitro is a much better rod. Fisherman#1 what were some of the rods you had in mind?

Are either of you guys sponsored by Nitro? (T-ledg or Pins)
Pins how long have you fished with a lox rod for? As I mentioned I have both Nitro and Lox rods. I have no affiliation with either and my allegiance is with my wallet and my comfort. I have NEVER lost a fish on my Lox that would have been landed on my Nitro. Take $$$ out of the mix and you have a clear winner. Nitro's are better quality. Not just their rods but their rod tubes as well But dollars play a huge part in what makes a great rod. It is about an overall package after all. If $$$ didn't come into things Wheels car of the year would be a Rolls Royce Every year (appologies to any Maybach fans )
