Shimming Shimano bearings

Came across a couple of BNIB Sustain FG 2500 reels and couldn't resist. They're my first shimanos in a loooong time. Anyway, I recall some posts by our esteemed Slazmo where he looked at shimming main drive bearings that sat relatively loosely in their side plates. IIRC cling wrap was trialed - unsuccessfully. The current acquisitions are pretty good, but I was thinking of possibly trying to eliminate any discernible play right from the get go in the faith longevity of smoothness could be maximised as far as practical.

Anyway, I've been going mad trying to locate Slazmo's thread or posts to no avail. A bunch of searches have reaped nil. Does anyone remember the said posts and, more importantly, are able to point me in the right direction?

Cheers in advance

Salv
