hey mate,
i own a panasonic lumix best camera ive ever had.
i checked out all the olympuses and a few of my mates
have had them and the seals go in them rather quick *1 month or so*.
also the lumix has exactly the same hd video recorder but the photo
quality on the lumix is better than the olympus. they told me in the shop.
ive owned my lumix for about 5 months now and i use it bodyboarding
all the time, most likely about 2-3 times a week. all i have to say is lumix
hands down but good luck hope this helps u out (:

Both the Olympus and the Lumix are great cameras. After previously owning an Olympus, when it died I replaced it with the Lumix FT1 18mts ago & really glad I made that choice. The deciding factor for me is the Intellegent Auto function on the Lumix which automatically selects the correct shooting mode, allowing one hand operation from the yak. Also the Lumix is Japan made and seems a bit sturdier.
You can now get an FT2 - WP to 10m and with even more features.

The Pentax W series are also well worth a look at. I have 2 of them, missus took the first , and haven't had a problem. Very happy with the way they have both performed.

I've got the ft2 and couldn't be happier. You can get them for 420 brand new with warranty everything.
Read around if you like, everyone rates the panasonic lumix ft2 as pretty much the best w/p point and click
Wasn't there an identical thread to this like a week ago?

Mate i done that ages ago about 4 months ago and my camera is still going strong, its nearly 2 years old and still on the first seals, and i put it underwater every trip to clean the salt off it. Its an Olympus 1050 SW.

Honestly, judging a cameras shots by looking at resized pics is not the best method. Check out some of the information on the net and I'm sure you'll get a few good examples.

I'll second that, I love my W80, takes great photos and a beating.

Looking to get a Lumix FT2 tomorrow for underwater shots.

Saw a couple of comments on another forum that the lens might fog up underwater? Anyone has experienced this issue?
