What are you using?

G'day M,
Great to see your getting in to breamin, I would love to offer some advice but it would help if we knew your set up and what exactly you are doing.
For example are you using a beach rod (LOL) and alvey surf caster or do you have a nice little 2kg outfit made from high modulus graphite?. What kind of lure are you throwing at them and what are you doing for a retrieve?.
Give us that info and I am sure I will be able to help you nail a bream
Regards Geoff

If you're getting hits, but no hook-ups I'd check the aeg of your jigs. Make sure you have a clean well maintained hook.

I'd even look at trying a few hard bodies as well. The fishing and camping store in Bunbury has chrome gold scorpions, that's where I'd start.

HTH.

Hey M

Firstly Mimbo will love to see another member of the fairer sex joining our ranks, she is a lovely chick and would love you to say g'day to her.
Well it sounds like you have got the right gear and someone with you who at least has the right idea.
It may be that you will just have to persist, I didn't start landing bream regularly for about 3 months, took me a while to learn.
It helps to fish with people who have landed a few, but mostly it's all about how you present the lure and be able to read what is happening to it. Hard bodies usually just get smashed after a good acurate cast and a nice slow (REAL slow!!!!) retrieve. This can happen to plastics, but a lot of the time unless you pay attention you won't even know the bream has picked up the lure in its mouth and you have probably pulled it out without striking.
Look for suttle twitches in your line and be prepared to strike a fish. Bushy has an article on sportsfish which is a link from this site check it out and try his technique's they work and have helped me nail fish
Regards Geoff
