This meant I had to take the sight casting opportunities when they presented themselves. Inbetween these 2 trees is a stupid place to cast from but its the only place I could spot the carp.

But its worth it when you see the fish turn and a yellow pair of lips start "Pac-man-ning" after the lure.

When you set the hook, you get a bronze flash before the fish tears off upstream. After 30 odd metres he realises, Straight line speed wont shed the hook so he turns downstream and head butts every snag he sees.

Even had me lock-snagged for about 30seconds before backing out and tearing off again.

By time I worked him back to my feet he was spent

Thanks JF

Yeh when I got to the creek I realised I had left the sunnies on Brads boat. Very upset. There were only a few pockets of water uneffected by glare. It was just lucky there was a carp in one of them.

Forget the Murray - What about the local creek A polaroiding session and a few casts may reveal it is full of the buggers.

I took my own advice tonight and stumbled across some very interesting new water. Still sight casting but couldnt get any takers.

These fish have become my Moby Dick over the last year or so.

I have chucked every combination of Jig head and plastic I can think of at them. I've had follows but no hook-ups and after 3 hours over the last 2 nights I had finally had enough

So after sight casting to about 30 of them with a paddle tail I had finally had enough. Packed up the gear and hit 7/11 for the canned version of these.

I wasnt mucking around when I got back to the lake. I was determined to get them fully switched on before I introduced the bait with a hook in it. I had read these units sometimes need to be lulled into a false sense of security before they will take a hooked bait

It took a while to get them locked on to the individual Kernals I was chucking to them.

I would have chucked over 80 kernals to judge how far they would chase it and how close was too close.

Once I had them shouldering each other out of the way to get the corn I chipped all the led off my jig head and sent it right into the drop zone with a Kernal attached.

and wouldnt you know it - the buggers charged over to it then snubbed it. Time after time they wouldnt take the kernal that had the hook in it.

At the start I was selectively casting at the biggest fanciest units in the pack.

By the end I was happy to get this little bloke
