Bass setup for around $200?

Hey,

Want to start fishing for bass a little more after the closed season ends and want a few suggestions on what sort of setups to look at??

I notice most use bait caster setups, is there a reason most use these over spin combos?

Any suggestions or advice would be great.

Cheers

Yeah I noticed that, good price. Is 2-4kg not too light for bass??

I chase most of my bass just on bream gear mate, 1-3 and 2-4kg spin sticks. 1000 and 2000 reels with 3lb fireline 6lb sunline. Only difference is I prefer 10lb leader just for a bit of extra abrasian resistance against snags and what not. I do have a baitcast setup I bought for bass fishing, but it doesnt get the same use my spin combos do purely because it doesnt cast the light lures I like to use as well as the spin rods. Hope that helps somewhat

spin rods for creeks and out of canoes/kayaks...

Bream gear is great and will land you most fish just make sure that drag is a little tighter and you won't have any worries.

The only reason I'd go any heavier is for a higher cast weight, or if there were cod around. I've caught bass over 40cm on a 2-4kg spin stick using 6lb with no worries at all.

Yeah mate as others have stated your normal bream spinning outfit is fine. Just beef up the leader depending on the type of structure your fishing.

Oh ok, I have a daiwa spellbinder 3-6kg with a 2500 ci4 might as well just use that and just get some more bass lures.

That'll be perfect mate, just blow the $200 on some spinner baits, and tiemco softshell cicadas
