Its looking a bit windy offshore so it will be hard to get out to where the stonkers are in the kayaks but looking forward to having another crack and i believe there will be a cook up afterwards of some squid.
Whose going to clean them ? See everybody down there on sunday and i heard rumors Busselton and Albany might get a crack at this as well (possibly Dampier to) Busselton would be perfect,,landbased on the jetty,,Geo bay for the jet skis, kayaks and boats,, |

Well it looks like some well known forum members cleaned up in the boats .
Think it was around 6 kilos for 10 ? Well have to wait for comfirmation . Which jigs did the damage guys ? |

I think it was 6.9 kg thereabouts for the 10.
Jigs that were on for me were a Yo Zuri, a mega bass and a natural colour Yam a s hi ta which I nearly cried when I lost. I think the jig of choice for Dror was an orange Daiwa jig with a rattle. Or that may have been the one that he gave up on... Pretty sure he will post up what he was using. Ian. Last edited by Ian Sewell; 15-11-2010 at 01:02 AM. |

A yound bloke of about 9 years old I think he was weighed in a 1.5kg squid, that is a big squid.
Got one a week ago that would have given 2 kg a nudge, was another team that had 10 squid last weekend for 8.2kg. (pre fishing for the comp) There are certainly some big squid out in the sound at the moment and on the flip side there are also a lot of those smaller to medium size around as well. |

Heres some photos to start off with,,
The prefish the week before was good, but it all started off for the yakkers when Mr Squid Paul Willis gave a 2 hour talk on catching squid a few days before the event The stars of the show unbeaten all year in the kayaks with back to back wins Daniel and Vanessa Growden A handy little yak rod demostrated here,3rd place getter won this (guy on left) Griffen another yakker with a voucher from blue water tackle,he lost a stonker squid on a harmitsu he won in the first classic a couple years ago, No stranger to the winners podium, last years winner in the LB Szarn Tink picked up 3rd this time around useing a Daiewa emarald jig in brown,, 2nd in the kayaks Eric Jong went for the best inked prize as well,,the secret is having a white shirt for maximun effect,, Another bag on the lie detector This young bloke was happy with his 1.5 kg squid LB winner i think from memory,, Jet ski section winner, will get more popular in the future Last edited by Shortytheyakker; 15-11-2010 at 09:52 AM. |
