I've landed 38 cm bream on both plastics and hardbodies on both shinamo and diawa . Shimano 750 and Diawa 1000 And 40 cm mullies on a 1500 Diawa set up for bream I went through a faze before 2015 and now 2019 getting a larger bream on a smaller reel. Now I want to upgrade and I know ask on fishing forums and everyman and their dog knows everything except what you actually asked . From my bad memories this reel had 7 Ball bearings. But as I wrote somewhere I'll ask at Tackleworld tomorrow. I do have a thick skin Alex but at some stage even a elephant has to react

And I guess my issue is I take too long thinking over things
Procrastinate too much And I should know some people know everything about everything that they've never ever seen

Nothing wrong with making an informed decision when spending for ongoing enjoyment is concerned . Regards, HBt.

Thanks for adding another valuable point of trying the new reel on the rod it will go to. This is the best way of checking on the balance and feel. |

I was using the shimano symetre 750 had issues with braid whatever the tackleshop put on I had issues with . You spend money and it lasted one use They blamed the snags in my local honesty one hour use and it would snap in my hand . Before that no issue I was landing nice bream. Secondhand reel I bought on here . Diawa Laguna 1000 I was landing bream but the braid would how can I explain this spool would go like a bird nest halfway through on both spools . I used the shimano Sienna when I bought it new changed to new braid didn't like The casting distance . Dragged out the old diawa aird 1500 autmn when my local went to sleep I got a few late bream 30 to 32 cms. Needed New braid threw on the Sienna and the salmon came back to West lakes. When that went quiet My local produced some bream then tiny salmon . Just thought it's time for a new reel I know to buy braid they put on out the back . Whatever I buy I hope it works

Re MGX on one forum one user who services there own reels said the internals are junk, now how accurate is that and does it apply to the ALX aswell ?
Had a look at Tackleworld reel options and what suites your fishing style,if you were reconsidering Shimano Nasci Shimano Stradic Daiwa Fuego LT I have all three of those reels and so does Tackleworld |

The Nasci is the new name for the symetre. I started when I switched from fly fishing for bream to hard bodies I was using a 2500. Going to the 1000 diawa had issues But I'll think about the other reels I have decided to move up from a 1000 either 1500 or 2000. Tackleworld will help me out . Got to use them my kids are giving me a gift voucher for my birthday Friday otherwise I'd walk to DohDohDoh or Anaconda. Although I prefer tackleworld or tackleshops for bigger items like reels .

Ok going by everyone's comments Alex , Jonnie and HBT
I made my decision not to purchase the Abu Garcia reel Major draw back besides the price which I knew was the spool depth. So I did purchase a Diawa LT exceler 2500 if I've spelt it right doh spooled with 5 lb braid I Compared this reel shimano and the Abu Garcia All three had issues but I liked the diawa

From what I have read it is only 2mm bigger than the old Daiwa 2000 anyway. Regards HBt.
