G Loomis TSR690S GLX

Hi; anyone own one of these? What is the action like? I thought at 5'9" it might be a good kayak rod for those casts under overhanging trees. Has it got enough power to pull out bass effectively from snags?

I would have thought it may be a bit light like most of the TSR's, they are trout rods. I havent even seen one ever.

I had a TSR901-2 and a SR781-1. The 901-2 was a super noodle but still took down some decent fish and never broke the 781-1 I gave this little rod a real hard time and could never fault it good pulling power for such a small stick. If I were you I would not worry about the GLX save yourself a few dollars and grab a TSR691S-1 bumps up your line class and might give you a bit more grunt and ups your cast weight a bit too, although at the top of the scale I could cast 10grm poppers confidently with the 901 so you can always bump it up a little without worrying to much. G Loomis rods are all great rods just wish the they had better reel seats and guides that's probably the only thing stopping me from buying another.

They are great rods but you can get 1 and a half custom rods for the same price. I had a FO 68XS just sold it, not for bass much too light. Best made rod I have ever used.

You can get a destroyer hatchet to your door for around $520. If you can get a decent custom rod for that much I'd sure as hell like to know how

That's a very different rod! Ive got that one too. The Loomis is much lighter in hand, in power, with an exceptionally skinny blank. I wouldn't use it a lot for bream, more trout and other ultralight applications.
