I've been using the 3.3 for a few weeks now and have had one "wind" knot.

Loving it so far.

I have the 8.8lb on two reels.
One has done about 10 trips and still like new apart from a little colour fade.
The other one only one trip and it cant keep it's knot strength to leader.
Both same knots and both same leaders.
I also have 6.6 on another reel which I've done about 20 trips and it's starting to do the same and break on the leader knot.
The funny thing is I can't brake it in a straight line.

Is it a quality control issue where not all spools are as good each other.

The nots are from your leader being too long, probably. I have been casting this stuff in the middle of Sydney Harbour on windy days and have never had a problem. It is very good line for the price, will only buy this from now, but I will stick to the crystal on the flats

I agree with all of I rate it too... no wind nots, and it casts like nothing your've ever seen but the colour fade, Ok try this when your retrieving, finger your line not soft not hard just medium all the way back and check what colour your finger is at the end after you do it for a while. not going off here just putting a point across.

On another note I wonder if they will advance it and make it into a crystal line

I am also interested in some exceed but can someone set the record straight for me ?

who has 4lb crystal fireline and do they know what the diameter in mm is for this ?

although i should not be comparing fused to true braid , I am pretty sure that 4lb crystal fireline is thicker than 8lb powerpro - which is only 0.13mm and that is pretty thin and i've had no problems with wind knots etc.

so I am after the exceed line which is actually slightly thinner than 4lb crystal fireline but also the breaking strain that will not give wind knots ... which should i get ?

cheers

i've used my 6.6lb exceed for about 3 outings now and it's softening up a bit which is good.
used it over the weekend casting unweighted plastics and had no wind knots, no breaks at the line, knot etc.
Will definitely get more in future.

sweet ... fireline stuff almost always softens up.

you may or may not have 4lb fireline ... but i will ask anyway .. do you know which is thinner ? otherwise, i will pop into a shop to see the diameter on the box ..

I am not a fan of 'too thin line' but do want something slightly thinner than 4lb original fireline ...

line looks great on the sol BTW

hey mate,
not sure which is thinner but they're both good lines for the money you pay. casting distance shouldn' differ greatly between the two.
I've got reels with power pro and reels with fireline. I just get whatever's cheaper at the time.
