< 1 minute FG

Hey guys, I have been working on a new knot for ya'll to try out, it's basically a sebile knot but much easier and has no chance of slipping, and allows you to get maximum tension on your wraps, so you don't have to pull it tight so much. It will also help immensely with tying to light leader, as long as the line is thinner than your leader it will work, so you might have trouble getting fireline, fins etc to take hold if tying to 4lb. The only other downside is that you need a rod holder and you will lose a bit of braid. I'm better at explaining stuff with pictures so I drew it on paint lol.

Firstly, you will need to put your rod in a holder/crack in the couch/mates hand and run your main line all the way through, and tie it off to either a snapper lead/your toe/tackle box handle.
Wind your line up so there's a fair bit of tension on your line, and put your leader next to your line on the side closest to you with about 10cm tag to the right. Wrap your tag down and around your main line and pull it tight, then up and around and pull tight, making sure to always wrap the tag around behind your mainline. Repeat these wraps 15-30 times depending on the line, more if you feel it's necessary.
Once you've done the wraps I like to finish it off by pinching the wraps near the end nice and snug to the main line and whilst pulling the knot away from your rod to keep tension, take the tag of your braid (cut the part that's tied to your tackle box/foot /sinker to give yourself something to work with) and do one half hitch around the main line, 5-10 around both main line and leader and then a few more just around the main line, and obviously pull everything tight before you trim your tags. I then like to glue my half hitches just to keep them in place, make sure not to glue the wraps though.

Nice one mate, I usually tie the braid to the stripper guide and set the drag so each wrap is tight but line can still come off reel. Ill give this a crack when I want to save time, cheers

No worries man. It' definitely a lot quicker than an fg or sebile, with a bit of practice you can nail it with 30 wraps in under a minute, and I haven't had it fail yet.

Still prefer the method of holding the braid tight in your left hand between your thumb and index finger then weaving the leader with your right hand.

Yeah each to their own, i find this way is a lot easier for light line <20lb which was why I started messing around with the knot in th first place.

Yeah fair enough.

I only tie it with like 40lb+ really, you need the strength of a thicker leader to tie it my way.

I think it would take me atleast a minute to find a heavy enough sinker to tie to my braid doing it your way haha.

I call that a simple FG and its the bomb imo,I don't run any hitches up the braid after i cut the tag off but i reckon i might start.
I'll see if i can find the little jap kid on Utube who ties it like i do.
cheers nereus

That's pretty much it, but without the tension, having as much tension as you can makes it grip a lot better and is much neater finish, and you'll notice it big time on lighter line <10lb. Running the hitches up the braid helps stop the hitches coming loose and sort of buffers the knot when winding in.
