I use the Kaneit knot exclusively these days. I do it a little differently though, as I was getting a few unexplained failures with the standard knot. Instead of tying a double overhand knot, to begin with, I now tie a triple overhand knot. I still get the necessary little 'figure 8', so that's not a problem. Instead of making just 10 turns through the loop, in the last part of the knot, I do 12 turns. With these two minor additions, my Kaneit knots are very strong and reliable. In fact, most of my breakoffs now are at the terminal knot, when I get snagged, etc.

The knot is still nice and small. It wears exceptionally well. So, you bitter 'ex kaneit' knot tyers, give it a go for yourself. It definately works.

Spot on, in any line strengths the FG (known as Sebille) knot is the best. It is slim going through the guides and is super strong. Once practiced it can be tied quickly and whilst out on the water. There aren't many good videos on YouTube of this knot, but if you type in Sebille knot it demonstrates another way to tie the knot which is a bit easier than the other versions I've seen.
Cheers

Alex I think RFF is refering to one I tied for Freshwater Fishing and Sport Fish DVD.

If he is it is very similar to the orginal slimbeauty but locks the braid tag off inside the figure of eight which stops the slipping you were getting in the Kane-it.

I was getting the slipping in really light (PE 0.3) braid as well as some coated braids after prolonged casting with heavier lures and mainly blades.

Here is an MS Paint version. I hope it makes a little sense.

So you dont pull down on the figure 8 part of the knot until you pull down on the other end of the knot where you go up and back and then back through the figure 8? This doesnt effect the knot?

You tighten up and close the figure 8 after passing the braid through the first time but I don't tighten it up 100%. I wait until the whole knot has been tied and then re-tighten the figure of eight. Once you have passed the braid tag through the 2 locking points you pull the mainline snag and it will begin to lock the tag in place.

Moisten the knot and tighten braid tag (in teeth) braid mainline (right hand) and leader mainline (left hand) once this is tightened I grab the leader tag in my teeth and the leader mainline with my left hand pull tight and use my right hand thumb nail to snug the figure of eight fully closed.

This is a little trickier than the original Slim Beauty but after a while becomes very easy to tie and won't slip like the original Kane-it and Slim Beauty.

Hope that is clear.

I might try and film it and put it on vimeo... I will let you know if I do.
