Not really the point of it Dan. This is in a similar vain to the article the Daiwa guys did for ABT. It's about selling yourself and going the right thing. If you have a sponsor, don't name your team something else, let people know who looks after you.

Make sure you have the right gear on at comps. Shirts, vests, hats etc. Look like you want to be there and think outside the square when it comes to selling yourself. Be active and seen.

oh yeah fully get the point of it, my comment was based on the photos and the amount of media around the us bass scene. for sure no point asking for sponsorship if your general appearance is tatty, cranky after you dont catch and you dont talk to people who may have questions, you wouldnt make a very good ambassedour (if that how you spell it) for the company.

I always thought it would be good to be sponsered. But I think that was more about being upset over people being sponsered and not being picked myself

I am now sponsered by my pocket money And dont mind dropping a good word about shops that give me good service.

We don't have the exposure of the eastern states or america that target the consumer base of the sponsors. I think people who may want sponsorship and being stationed in WA need to look at it a different way, use a different medium to get out their and known. Via different apps on the web, free to air TV and so on.

I think its especially easy for the younger anglers to pick up sponsorships. Being dynamic, loud and active within the realms of the sport and of course developing a strong list of finishes and accomplishments. The sponsorship world could be a young anglers oyster. Look at Carl Jocumsen, he did especially well. The main thing is to be loyal to the brand and do your best for them and yourself. Its similar to surfing back when kelly and tom carroll and all those guys finished up. A total new school of surfers rocked onto the scene- taj, mick fanning etc and they have taken it to another level IMO. Must admit its still cool to see kelly rise to that level and give them a good ol run for their money.

Lets the new school of breamers has to offer

The hard thing for the younger guys is to find that balance between sponsorship pressures and continuing to enjoy their fishing. As a few have found, it's not as easy as it sounds and is quite a lot of work.

Yeah but we also are juggling school too..

Alex you have been fishing two times in the past year? mate.
I know where bear is coming from It would be hard with all the pressure on you too catch when you are just so young.

I will agree with bear. Its not just a way of getting free gear. You have to work for it, be loyal to the brand even when its not catching. You have more than just going fishingand enjoying it- no there are obligations to fulfill. It also pressures you to do well. Makes fishing more like a chore sometimes. Depending on how successful you are will help you enjoy it. Then you find that taking a year or so off (what im doing at the moment) to get yourself going again is in order.

Now i got my tongue hanging out for another two day comp....

had a big ask for myself the other day.
was approached by a very big company in suzuki.
sponsership is a big ask and you really need to shout their name out.
its a little bit easier for me as i can get in and amoungst them 2 times a week really.
sometimes it comes to a point where you can post up anyother information about what other gear you used to catch fish.
