Guys, I like old reels as much as the next person. My first Pixy opened up a world that I had struggled with for years with Abu 1500/2500/1750s. Daiwa had a little baitcasting reel, a round one, an MM1000, as I recall, a lot of work went into that reel to help it cast. Early Conquest 50/50S were the round equivalent to the Pixy.

Jump ahead to 2015. A couple of Aldebaran versions, the Brenious. Daiwa has the SS Air. Avail has an assortment of aftermarket spools and SLP does finesse tuning.

Things have come a long way. More predictions. The big 2 will make a move to further reduce weight. Look for more composite bodies, rotors and next, spools. Some will be fully machined to allow for FEA to enhance strength while paring grams.
