Welcome to the site. What state do you live in? In Victoria you might be booked for carrying a kayak on a trailer that wasn't registered. We don't need to register 6x4 box trailers. Any boat, including kayaks, must be carried on a trailer that is registered as a boat trailer. Plenty of people do it however and not many seem to ever get booked.

I used an old 6 x 4 box trailer, had to extend the draw bar though. I believe a 7 x 5 box trailer has a long enough draw bar. Also used the Hobie cradles which support the hull in the right places and i leave mine on the trailer when not being used. A trailer makes things so much easier. If you message me your email i can send you a picture or two.
