Apart from that I use them to keep router bits sharp. If they can sharpen tungsten carbide, they can pretty well sharpen anything your going to come across.
Yeah - I'm going to have to weigh up alot of factors before making the decision - By the sounds of things I might have to get a flat set and the little one that clips to your belt.

I have had one of these for many years, I prefer to use the flat side as opposed to the groove.
Ok - thanks for the heads up. Looks like the pen style just made its way back on to the list

One of my worries is - If the sharpener isnt very accessable - I wont bother using it as often as I should.
Thats the little one I have also, exactly the same as the larger model in quality but about 1/6th the size.

if you need to sharpen a lot it will do well!

I have used one of these for ages, very light 80mmx20mmx4mm.

Double sided stone/ceramic with different grades on each side, fine & super fine, grooves down both sides, straight and concaved.

I use the pen style - works well. Sits nicely in a pocket out of the way.
I also have a surecatch diamond sharpener.
This one
http://www.wilsonfishing.com.au/_pro...-159-651-.aspx
It has a double ended diamond sharpener that is tapered on end, has the groove (that I rarely use) and a round with a flat on the other end. keep it on a lanyard around my neck with my braid scissors and my most used tools are at hand.
alumium pen shaped case - Inside is diamond sharpener

I do like the look of the flat one on the retractor

Very clever bit of kit - I've just ordered the eze lap version - so I'll see how that goes.

Yeah - I've gone with a little flat one as everyone seems to ignore the groove. I like the idea of being able to attach it to a lanyard and not poke a hole in myself when I sit down

Will see how it pans out

I was recently shown the importance of touching up your new jig heads. It was amazing the difference made by a few very light strokes on a diamond file. I keep a leatherman wave in my pocket at all times either when working or fishing. It has a great diamond file on it. A touch more expensive at $150-200but the pliers make a great de-hooker lol. 9 years of use, including extended periods of time underwater whilst fishing and there is an insignificant amount of rust on it, 99% of its parts are high quality stainless

Cheers for putting this thread up YD. Had in the back of mind that I wanted a hook sharpener but had no idea where to start

Just ordered an EZE lap too
