Bream & my young bloke

Thought I'd share a few shots of my youngest & some of the bream he's caught. I'm very proud of his efforts as he hasn't had an easy life (he's autistic) but has managed to land all but his PB (30cm) entirely on his own. Even with his PB he did most of the work on his own, I just had one hand above the top grip to lend that extra bit of support. He's also got an entusiasm for fishing that most of us older folks have long lost. Hope you like the photos.

Good on him, I can just imagine the pride you would be feeling. Just goes to show what a great pasttime fishing is that so many of us can get enjoyment from it. Now for a new PB!

Graeme, this is kind of freaky but I also live in Dianella and have an autistic son! I know that spot well as well. I have a bit of trouble getting mine to sit still long enough to catch fish, but he does love going to the river and on the boat. Love the pics!!

Great stuff mate. Awesome to be able to find an activity that you can share and enjoy with your son as well.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. Yellaterra I kow what you mean about the staying still part, Jamie gets very excited when he's fishing & likes to jump up & down right next to the edge of the jetty. Gets me jumping in my skin & nearly having heart attacks at times. Still he's having a ball & that's all that really matters to me. Quite the the coincedence that you live in Dianella as well & have an autistic child. Chances are we have seen each other around.

Good on ya mate good to see.
2 off my boys are on the spectrum and are mad about fishing, they nag mum all week about fishing with dad on the weekend and enjoy it even though they struggle to sit still long enough to catch anything.
Its more than just a hobby or a sport fishing, its a thearpy and a past time and more.

It sure is and the time spent with Dad is invaluable no matter what the activity really.

Thats fantastic to see! Those photo's say a thousand words about what fishing is all about.
Thats one thing I do miss, spending time fishing with my dad - I must organise a trip with him soon.

I think some of us would benefit by taking a few moments to look over this pics and the attached story and realise there is more to fishing then fast boats and top end gear.

Thanks for sharing, making me smile and I hope theres lots of fish for you and your son for many more years to come.

Thanks guys. There sure is more to fishing than top end gear & boats & every time I go fishing with my kids I'm reminded of that, which is lucky for me beacuase I can't afford all that stuff anyway. The smile on thier faces when they pull up any size fish always makes me happy, even when I've had the worst of days.
