I like this idea the best - although it seems the split shot has been permanently attached - If you used removable split shots it could be a game changer.

You could lash a bit of wire to your favourite Live bait hook that can handle Kingfish and change the weight as conditions dictate.

This would reduce the number of bent, snapped and straightened hooks.

I've got 1/0 live bait hooks that would straighten alot of commercially available jighead hooks, in a head to head contest

refering to the pic above you could attach the split shot to the tag end of your knot and use a worm hook.

Clever - I hadnt thought of that - I do have a bag of Worm hooks that need a swim
