snapped steering cable Minn Kota

OK . . . snapped the steering cable in my Minn Kota Maxxum and after a bit of advise please . . . . .
I just contacted BLA and there is no accredited repairer in Sydney anymore (go figure) you either have to ship the motor off to Brissy or take it to Foster, Wagga Wagga or Canberra. So with Chrissy and a 3 week fishing holiday fast approaching can anyone advise me of a repairer in Sydney? or if I ordered the parts how difficult the replacing might be, if you have done the job how easy or difficult was it?
Thanks in advance for any advise!

Not sure mate, though all I know is that it took 3months for BLA to repair my kota Hopefully you don't have to send it away. Good luck mate, hope you get it sorted before Chrissy.

Ive done it and it's not hard at all. Just take some pictures as you take it apart as a reference in case you forget how it goes. Feel free to PM Me if you have any questions during the process.

Google Northland marine in the US they have a great website for Kota parts and ship pretty fast.

There is no chance I could have done it on my pat malone. Was lucky enough to have a very mechanically handy friend willing to help. Took us a few hours and its still not perfect (minor adjustment still needed in the head).

It's not a fun job! Mine was in a Fortrex though.

thanks for the tip guys I'm still undecided but the only place in NSW to be authorised to do the repair is still to return my call . . . . that's a worry
