Ahh I'm just thinking of what they advertise them as. They look like a hell fun rod to muck around with what reel you gonna put on it?

Yeah I fail with the TSR casting at tricky vertical structure and my DSR820 is too heavy it seems for 1/24 ounce jighead which is why I bought this badboy.

Its really short compared to what I'm used to. Doesn't feel as alive in your hand as a GLX but I'm just hoping it's still pretty sensitive.

Steersy got me onto this rod and they fish it in Tas for their big blacks in racks and nasty country.

Sounded like an awesome rod and was thinking the shortness of it would turn my terrible casting into a somewhat accurate consistent cast for me.

But only practice will fix that I'd say haha.

Indeed I do! The New Caldias look like the best budget reel going at the moment though and almost went for it over the Certate. Havn't felt one only going by specs

.
Wow didn't know Loomis rods were that cheap now!
Last time I bought a Loomis IMX it was $599 hence the questioning of why?
That's good value under $200!

Greg's been breaming for a long time boys! Back in the day GLX was just crazy money to be spending! IMX was still crazy to alot of people. No where near as many rods were sold back then and that was reflected in there higher prices. As they became popular the prices came down to become competitive.

I remember walking into the old fishing shop at singleton (I think it was singleton that used to have the giant bass on the roof) and seeing my first ever loomis. It was a DSR, non GLX model, and it was $510.

There's a number of reasons they're cheaper these days but mainly it's the strength of the AUD. Loomis are great rods, just not worth what poor Aussies paid for them 5 years ago.

My last Loomis was over 8 years ago now, if not more!
I think I was in a tiller steer 435 Hornet back then.
There's been 4 boats and many rods since that last Loomis LOL, still have it tho!
Lures, reels n line have become more expensive over the years. I remember when plastics were $5.95 or 10 for $45. These days $45 doesn't even get you 4 packs!
