"Luck" in tournaments

Quote:
juĀ·ju (jj)

n.

1. An object used as a fetish, a charm, or an amulet in West Africa.
2. The supernatural power ascribed to such an object.
An interesting article on habits and charms that give you luck in a tournment.

What is your lucky charm for a tonrmament.

My Cabela's hat.

When Paul and I won a Vicbream Classic team of the year I was wearing it during all of the comps that year.

However, I have noticed a pattern lately: no Cabela's hat -no bag

I'm a fiend for superstitions - I've got 100's of them but here's a few that relate to bream from a previous post

Claiming out loud, that one particular angler enjoys the company of horses, is a powerful fish catching technique in my local waters.

Taking a Swig of "Bream Juice" (diet coke) works well for one angler I know.

Repeating the mantra "Cmoooooooonnnnnnn Snapaaahhhh" in the most irritating singing voice you can muster is a guarantee.

Another angler I know does special wrist exercises in the morning before every session.

Arrogantly naming a location after yourself guarantees action

Pulling up the electric and driving off to a new location with out letting your mate finish his retrieve shows you mean business - and the fish at the next spot respect that.

If someone suggests a change of location, the only answer to give is "I dont care, I'll catch 'em anywhere"

Buying a new rod, reel or boat gets you connected to something good the first time you use it.

Never, ever wear any Orange clothing - the bream hate it and so do the Ladies you wave to on the river.

Some people fish better with a hang-over and others dont - trial and error over an extended peiod of time is the only way to sort this out. Once you work out, what works for you - stick to it

These are just a few truths I have gleaned over the years - they may have no place in tournament angling but then again.....maybe the last time you blanked in a comp was because you were wearing "Orange" undies and you didnt have any "Bream Juice" on board

Just a couple of things not to do. Yes i do adhere and believe deeply in the first one

Never wear Red undies They will stuff you up every time. Never change a plan, ever!!

Refer to every location as Hollands landing when speaking about it publicly

What was your secret Bloodworm?? What enabled you to catch that Stonking Blackie?

i too have found a strong correlation between wearing red undies and having good luck!
I also cant fish without my lucky daiwa hat. Fair enough that I usually always wear it, which means all my good captures I had it, but its just become one of those things I guess.

red undies and lucky hats!

and my favourite of all time, not going home even when you are completely defeated, that results in the best luck

It appears that i may be alone in the Red undie theory. I have to say i adhere to the last one

ALWAYS HAVE AT LEAST TWO LAST CASTS!! Even if your team mate it getting pissed off with you

I was out with a couple of mate fishing off a jetty at Iluka for gar fish with some success, having landed a couple, but mostly they were just eating our bread, when my friend Daniel suddenly yells "Nikolai was a bullfrog!" and immediately pulls a fish in. He laughs, bait's up, and again yells "Nikolai was a bullfrog!" and immediately pulls in a fish. He did this, I kid you not, about 20 times after which the few remaining garfish left.

Coxy and I have a certain charmed location that has afforded us a second place (only a second place through lost fish from poor angling from us) plus two come from behind TAS Classic TOY wins.

Needless to say if I tell you where exactly this charmed location is I would have to kill you!

Cheers
