The grips are my favourite thing on the rods! Thin and gives you plenty of feel on the blank. Each to there own.

agree with this ! i've used my 2500 rarenium with the samurai and it is a good pairing.

not really a structure rod though .. suggest you get two rods bremmer or one in the middle which is more of an all-rounder if you only have the $ for one rod. the 101 is definitely on the finesse side @ 2-4lb

Younger people nearly always seem to prefer EVA grips for some reason. Personally, I much prefer cork, but then again, I'm an old codger. I also really like the handle/butt set up on Vapours. The minimumal handle lets you feel each and every bump and vibration coming though the rod.

I have 3 Nitro Vapour rods, one in each of the lengths available. I use them all for different applications. The 6'6'' Vapour is probably the stiffest out of the three, but it's not totally unsuited for hardbodys. I often use mine for casting the lightest of hardbody lures and it does a reasonable job. It's certainly more suited to soft plastic fishing generally though.

I can't speak about Samurai rods, having never actually used one. I've picked them up in the shop though and the certainly feel great, it's just a pity about those butt ugly grips.

Thanks for the input guys, it's been great. Im not discounting the vapor though, I didn't really word my last comment right, the vapors grip isnt the best I've held. Nothing wrong with it, just not up there with other rods I have felt.
I am an Eva man. But my current bream rod is cork and I don't mind it. Despite preferring Eva, I don't like the whole "camo" thing that alot of brands are introducing. The grip on the samurai just looks really comfy.

But that is only grip, which doesn't help me catch fish. The actual rod of the vapor, is beautiful. So light. Heard some people on here say that it is tip heavy, and to balance it with a 250g reel. After feeling the rod I totally disagree. I would throw the lightest reel on it. Makes for such a light weight combo.
Do you guys that own a vapor have any trouble getting your knots through the guides? They just seemed really small. Also hyperthetically, if I were to get this rod, should I use a braid/fluoro setup for flats, or a Fluor straight through?

If you're worried about the 2 piece aspect, the 101s now come in a 1 piece. I have had a play with both and own 2, 2 piece 101s and think they're great. No difference in action as far as I'm concerned

Haha, 2pce only for me mate. At this stage, I'm stuck between the vapor and a 203. Will wait til I get to see them at bluewater.
I plan on getting a 101 in the future, but right now, I just need something that can handle some structure, without me worrying about ending up with a 3pce. Would be a nice rod just for straight thru fluoro imo.

Haha, I'm all sorted mate, went into tackleworld on Friday, I was looking at a very nice samurai, which felt great, asked the rep if they have had any probs with it, he immediately said forget about it. Asked about the vapor, same response. He then proceeded to show me an Azusa rod. I was still set on a vapor or samurai, til he showed me this. It's an amazing rod, he gave me a feel of the pulling power of this 1-3 kg, it had power like a 4-7kg rod. It is a onepiece, but I loved it that much I am still gonna get it. Awesome skeletal grips too. The best part came when I saw the price tag, I thought he was just trying to make more money by selling me a more expensive to. Came in at $250. Perfect. Could but two for the price of a vapor or samurai. So im set on that rod. Thanks for imput anyway guys, samurai still felt nice, but the Azusa left it for dead.

I love the 6'6" Vapour but do find the tiny guides an issue, causing weird guide/braid wrap/knot problems. 4lb fluro to 4 lb braid seems to give the least problems as it makes a tiny knot. Anything heavier and casting knots can be a problem. I would prefer to use a heavier leader though as flathead make short work of 4lb fluro.

Other factors come in also, wind, weight and shape of lure etc. One session I retyed 6 times in an hour because of braid knots .... total b!tch it was. New braid is the worst. Seems to settle down after a few sessions.

Have you had a look at the Daiwa Tournament Specialist Bream? I'm almost certain that it will change your mind. It's priced at $100 more but it's obvious why when you pick it up.

I think Asuza are the bluewater brand rods so they would try to push them alot more. Each to their own. I will stick with my nitros. You do know that if you break a nitro it has a lifetime insurance policy on it- send the broken section off to Mayfly Tackle (aussie company with great service) with the money order for the insurance excess and they will send you a replacement section usually in about a week. Not many rods around that have that service.

I know mate, he told me they were sponsored by Azusa, so I knew he was trying to push through their products. But in my opinion, it actually was an amazing rod. Each to their own, no doubting that nitro have one of the best warranties around.
