I was a regular here for ages until a few years ago.. it used to be pretty active. Lots of people posting. Now it's dead.

What happened? Where did everyone go?

I think mobile phones and Facebook have alot to do with it. Also maybe alot less people are fishing for bream these days.

When it was new and there was so much to learn, excitement about the subject was at an all time high. Facebook hadnt taken over fishing forums yet, so a web page was the place to go to find out.

I imagine people new to breaming just go to facebook these days

So, I used to live on the sunshine coast and if I had five minutes to spare id be wetting a line.. loved it. Move down to brisbane for my daughter, which meant I was getting out to wet a line less and then (queue groans) I got caught up in a vegan phase, put fishing on the too cruel wagon and sold all of my gear... got over my vegan phase, started eating meat again and recently my 17yo son let me know that he wanted to get into fishing.... so im all as keen as a bean again.

Picked up some nice combos... it's amazed me at just how far fishing rods and reels have come in 10 years.

Team daiwa black 2500 on a shimano Zodias 2-4kg - feels better than my luvias rod/steez reel combo from back in the day.

Daiwa Fuego 2000 on a shimano anarchy 1-3kg

Shimano stradic 2500FJ on a pflueger medalist 2-4kg (bought this outfit at way too high of a price because i was feeling nostalgic)

Daiwa SLX on some cheap $80 rod that anaconda forgot to scan as its not on my receipt. Freebie I guess.

Daiwa Aggrest LT4000 reel/rod combo for some jacks/jewies - honestly, even this combo feels better than the outfits I was using back in the day that cost me more than twice as much.

Only the zodias was new and the lot only set me back $850....




Looking at getting a kayak.. guess ill explore the brisbane area a bit.
