Getaway Outdoors Kayak Classic Grand Final

This year the grand final will be a showcase event at the Perth International Boat show 23rd and 24th of September, we will have an area adjacent to Elizabeth Quay for the Hobie Tournament trailer to be set up in and it is anticipated that we will have floating docks set up to allow anglers to pull up to or onto to be able to weigh in and watch the weigh in and presentations each day.

We hope that you are able to attend after doing all of the hard work and qualifying for this main event.

If you are unable to attend, please notify us immediately so that we can pass your position on to the next ranked angler from your qualifying round.

Thank you and congratulations again on earning your position in the Grand Final.

This will be a 2 day event with fishing hours between 0700 and weigh in at 1400hrs.

There will be a 2 week pre fish ban on the waters of the swan and canning rivers... Pre fish ban will commence the Monday of the 11th of September

The start is going to be logistically difficult as we are unable to start from the same location that we will be holding the weigh in.

The start and Briefing on the Saturday morning will be on the beach / carpark on the southern side of the Narrows Bridge. The day two start will be at the same location.

Anglers with trailers are requested to either load their kayaks onto their cars or get dropped off and picked up as there is no parking for trailers. There are a few bays for trailers around the corner at the jet ski launching area however they are very limited and there is no guarantee that you will get one and we will not be responsible for any parking tickets you may get. If you would like to park your trailer elsewhere and make your way to the start location at the Narrows Bridge please feel free to do so.

Registration will open at 0600 and we will supply tea and coffee only. We will also have a small snack pack and water available for you at registration on both days.

Briefing will be at 0640. If everyone is ready earlier then we will get you on the water earlier, so please be prepared and get there early.

The weigh in will be at the Back of Elizabeth Key, we are still awaiting our final details however we will let everyone know exactly where they need to go for the weigh in at the briefing. Unfortunately we are unable to supply drinks at the weigh in location.

If anyone is unsure about the starting location we suggest you get down there over the next week and check it out. If you have any issues or concerns as always please feel free to e mail or give me a call. Please do not PM or facebook as I do not have facebook...

Parking seems to be the next challenge that competeors will have work out , seems the best option for a fair few is to park at Coode street and peddle to the Narrows ( parking fairly expensive but there's no way around that .

There's no suitable parking near launch site ( unloading yes ) bays are limited to 4 hours under the Narrows & Jet ski launch nearby , early morning trailers could launch at the jet ski area but still have to park at Coode street most
Probally .

Plenty of time for folks to work out a practical solution that works for them but I think I will go the Coode street launch , after the Weighin its a simple matter of going directly there than Narrows and muck about getting cars from different carparks in the area .

The next thing is working out how much Alex will win by

Shorty please get down there and have a look! There is no 4 hour limit on the weekends. No need to park at coode street, as I suggested above there may only be an issue if you have a trailer and your best option is that you get dropped off and picked up. There are a few trailer bays at the jet ski area, but I would not presume that you will get one, and again there is no 4 hour limit on weekends...

Most of the competitors are car top yakkers, there are only about 6 or 7 that use trailers.

Yes good news confusion has risen with big sign out the front saying mon - sun four hours parking ( unless otherwised signed)

The second photo is interesting at the ramp theres a sign saying PWC only to use the ramp but carpark says cars & trailers , you would hope the Rangers don't fine people thinking they used the boat ramp because they did not have a jet ski trailer .

Looks like all the streets and roads nearby could be a goer as well , Mill point road has restrictions mon- fri but nothing on weekend , folks with trailers should be able to find somewhere a couple minutes walk away .

Coode street seems some distance away its $2.50 an hour , I woould be checking my options near the launch first .

Here's some extra info just come in

This is from the Senior South Perth Ranger.

Parking under the narrows is 4 hour limit Monday to Friday.

The inner carpark sign says this.

The outer carpark sign says 4 hour parking Monday to Sunday because this will come into effect in about 4 weeks time.

The senior ranger is going to get another ranger to put a sticker over this sign until then so that the parking inspector doesnt fine anyone.

As for tailer parking. They are not keen for trailers to be taking up bays along the esplanade but will tolerate it until the new "cars only" signs go up in a few weeks.

Car and trailer must fit inside 2
bays only or you will be fined.

Trailers can be parked in the narrows carpark in marked bays only.

No trailer can be on any grass area.

Lizzy Key only a stones throw away across the river

So the main event is drawing close!

All anglers please put into your kit a length of rope suitable for tying your yak up to a pontoon or another kayak if need be.
