Are we a dopey bunch?

I keep noticing this in the camping section:

Never

So - no-one on here ever had a good idea, related to camping?
Are we mostly day trip kind of guys?
Do most here stay in a hotel / shack / mates place when they go away?
Does everyone (else) here live close to their favourite water, so doesn't need to go away anywhere to fish?

Just wonderin'...

Though I do camp a bit in my line of work, I usually keep it simple with a swag and a gas cooker or camp oven. I keep my blankets rolled up in the swag, does that count as a tip?
I haven't been going away to fish recently as I'm still trying to figure out my local estuary..

Buy a car with Fold flat seats. Drive somewhere. Fold seats flat. Put something soft to lay on down. Sleep. Wake up. Fish.

Now you are camping. And also smelly, just remember that when you hit some remote bakery for a pie or three.

Camping is something I do a bit of. Mostly by myself with mates sometimes too. Probably my favorite place to go is to Lake Bullen Merri where I camp with the mates annually. I like to sleep in my own tent instead of a swag, absolutely hate swags. We set up a decent campsite on the point which has a small plantation of gums which we use the dead branches from for the fire, as well as bring some of redgum logs. We set up 5 rods between the 6 of us with some gudgeons out under floats. The main aim is to have a fish and get in the rankings for the comp. But we also like to chill out with a few drinks, I don't drink much being 15, but a little. Usaully its pretty cold so we rug about around the fire and have a chat and wait for a bite! Fishing & Camping go perfectly together!

I'll never go camping. Went camping as a boy with my dad but all my camping trips went the same way:
Take way too long setting up tent.
Finally set it up but despite best efforts, sand gets in.
Sand prevents me from sleeping well by getting into my clothes while I'm trying to sleep.
My dad's snoring makes sleeping with sand next to impossible.
Wake up the next day with what feels like a hangover and not enjoy my fishing trip.
Go home more tired than when I left.

So, now my fishing trips will be a motel at a minimum or if the family comes along, it'll have to be a 4 star minimum accom.

Call me soft. I won't argue that point.

And no caravan parks or caravans for me too. Went to Marlo and thought I could hack an on-site caravan. It was off peak when I went so I thought it would be quieter. When I arrived, the on-site van I was in was next to residential houses and one of the houses had a renovation happening. Walls of the caravan was paper thin and couldn't get any rest from my much needed nanny nap.
Figured that it'd be better at night, that night I tried to sleep and the van next door had a bogan couple and I could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in that van. Cooking dinner, doing laundry, and the worse part, they decided to have a nookie.
Nookie + paper thin walls + bogans = Never going to a caravan park again.

That time I paid for 2 nights but left after the first.
