What Weight?
What weight is best used for a leader when fish around the yacht
clubs with light metals? Is nine pound about right cause last time i could see it had been quite easily snapped in the middle somewhere by rubbing against a pylon or rock and it was almost instantanious (i wish i could spell)

It always pays to buy a good brand when it comes to leaders, as they are more abrasion resistent and gives a good knot strength. Fluorocarbon leaders are the way to go as it makes it harder for the fish to see the line.
I normally use a 10lb fluorocarbon leader for most of my fishing (70%). But when the bream gets spooky or when I'm using 1-3gm jigheads I use a 5lb fluorocarbon leader.
