re the motor, you would want to find max hp for the boat, should be on an id plate somewhere.

If its rated to 90, build the transom up, and put a 90 Mercury EFI CT on it and get smartcraft gauges (digital gauges). They weigh less than the optimax, more cubes and are an awesome motor.

Remember if you put a jack plate on it, you are again moving weight/adding more weight to the back of the boat.

Thanks , Great Advice

I have checked it Out just now, Wow that Command Thrust Gear Box looks Awesome

The 115hp Looks Interesting 2 kg Lighter than the 90hp or 100 hp Thinks that could be the Go

I have a Need for Speed LOL

You may think I'm crazy but Im thinking of the New Big Tiller Control as Well.

These Big Tiller Machines are taking off big time in USA, Gives you a lot of Room

See in USA Guys are running 250hp Tiller Steers LOL

Cheers Nordy

Got to admit, I prefer the bass boat style consoles as it takes up less room and suits the use of things like a hot foot pedal accelerator much better. To me, any boat with a lot of hp should look at the hot foot from a safety perspective.

Next I would have the tilt\trim next to the wheel, again a great safety addition.

Again, sounds silly, but one of the best features I had on the Ranger was the tilt trim switch at the front next to the sounder. It meant I very rarely needed to leave the front to navigate the shallows. More an ergonomic issue, but really handy.

I agree 100% on the trim at the front, thats will be added.

Also will have sounder mount etc.

Thanks for your Thoughts & Reply

Yes I have Hot Foot on my V20 Legend Bass Style Boat with Twin Consoles et , yes its fantastic I agree and safe.

My thinking with this Boat is different.

Its only 4.45 Metres Long, so room is limited. Its nice and Beamy at 2.03 etc. But still Limited space.

Adding a console was my 1st way of thinking, But its takes up a lot of room in the Centre section of the boat plus restricts Under Gunnels rod Locker Storage for rods up to 9ft Im hoping to get 4 Rods Each side under the Gunnels.

So after a Lot of Research Im thinking Rear Tiller Steer, There getting more and more popular in the USA. Mercury and Few Others even have Hydraulic Assist Tiller Steer so you can Steer with One Finger and Take hand off the tiller and it still Tracks Straight etc. Not sure if I can get that for the 115Hp But Ill be checking it out.

From what I've read, the New Big Tillers have 3 position operation so you can even stand if you desire. Very Interesting.

This also Clears the Centre Higher Freeboard Section 100% for some Light Off Shore Fishing. Being able to Fish Both Sides of the Boat etc with No Console in the way. mmmmm Many things to consider.

Thought about possible a very small centre console also,
But Keep coming back to the Tiller Steer Option.

Lots to think about.

At this stage we are getting the Gunnels and Transom All Sorted. While taking all ideas onboard to sort out what I end up doing internally.

Pic 1 Thinking Slightly Smaller Version of This Tiller Steer

Pic 2 Thinking this Type of Layout This Boat is 4 ft Bigger so we need adjust the layout to suit. But this is what Im thinking at this stage.

My only thought is, if you look at the second pic, you could easily move the seat forward and have a nice little centre console and have walking down each side. That then gives you more storage under the floor and a larger rear deck.

Extending the front deck back to match the console when gives you space for an eski locker or similar, but I suppose it does take away from seating space. I suppose it depends on how many people you want to catch for.

Something along this style of layout:

Thanks for Input

Looks Good Bear

But we need some centre space to stand and able to get your Toes under a rail or side pocket for some light Off Shore Work in a Swell of Chopy Sea.

I plan to use this as a Travelling Boat around OZ down the track a bit etc.

So don't want to be restricted to just a Casting Platform, I also want to be able to catch Snapper, Red Emperor, Tuna , King Fish etc etc if I so Desire.

So I'm trying to make a a bit of a All Rounder with its main Purpose casting Lures LOL Not Easy Task.

So any Input Helps, Gets Us Thinking

Thanks

Cheers Nordy

I'm not forgetting that, more coming from a different point of view were we use the lean seats or rails, like fly fishing boats, that can be removed instead of needing rails or side pockets. I see many boats in the NT set up in the same way, check out the GD Marine website:

If you plan on fishing the reefs in North WA and North queensland where long runs are required, a console out performs a tiller everyday of the week.

60km run on a tiller isnt fun id never go back.

Im planning on that yes,

Yes I agree, but would loose Floor Space esp if you want a seat as well.

Is that due to arm strain ????

The New Tillers Assist Track with the Hydraulic Assist so there is no pressure on the Arm. You can even let go and it tracks, locks into place.

Very different I'm lead to believe compared to the Old Tiller Arms

That would be good compromise Maybe if there as good as that say ????

Check Out Steve Morgan VID interesting

For me when i was living and fishing out of mackay in a tiller it wasnt wrestling the tiller arm or the vibrations it was the sitting position and the slightly curved spine you find yourself in when your using the tiller.

I know alot of us with our bass boats fear losing deck space and a tiller means even in a smaller boat you do have more physical space. However when you consider the actual fishable space it isnt a huge difference. i dont know about you but when i owned my skeeter i spent most of my time in a 1.5x1.5 square working the pedal and looking at the sounder, the incredible boat control electrics offer mean you dont have to move on your deck as much.

Its all just courses for horses though if your heart is set on a tiller these new ones do look alot more ergonomic and user friendly.

The last thing i will add is when im popping for GT's or trout or jigging i find i use the grab rail on my side console ALOT any boat under 6m is going to bob around and when u have 8kg of drag and angry fish on the other end a grab pedastal or in my case console rail really do come in handy.

As long as you dont weight 150kg and know how to distribute weight in your boat correctly a small side console can really maximise deck space and fishability. In the smaller glass boats the space between a center console and a side gunwale isnt very big and i believe rather impractical. Hence why im a fan of small side consoles to maximise your space on one side and provide a support slash grab rail on the otherside.

Im sure any config will do the job in your hull a classic hull which is a proven winner in that size class.
