New Reel

Hey all,

Got the word i am allowed to get a new reel for christmas. Here are the options,
* luvias 2500, (old style, not new cheap blue colour)
* Certate 2500
* Sol 2500

I a unsure whether to spend the extra mony on the certate, are the really worth so much more than the luvias??
Alos, looking in the 2500 range as it will be used mainly for big dam bass.

I am leaning towards the certate at the moment as it is just under $600, and i get a free spool of any braid i chose if i buy it. However, i am open to offers and depending on parents influence, may end up getting the luvias.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, (i am only looking at daiwa reels. Not that i have anything wrong with Shimano, but why bother changing when i have never had problems with Daiwa reels)

Cheers,
Dom

P.S Not willing to spend any more than the certate.

which model certate? finesse custom 2506, 2500r custom or standard? id definantly get either of the first 2 certates if under 600 with spare spool, if not go a luvias put a new handle on it buy a spare spool and you will still spend less than what u would on a standard certate probably.

thats just my thoughts

If weight was not an issue Certate is def smoother that the other two and with good line theres prob $70bucks there as well. If weight was an issue than the luvi, not as smooth but still very good.

Thanks guys,

Ummm i think it is just the standard certate, not certain though. What re the differences??

Well i can get a 300metre spool of TD sensor braid or some rapala tournament braid, and spool up both spools on the certate at once.

I think it will probable work out more expensive if i buy the luvias, and a spare spool, new handle and good quality braid...

Still open to suggestions though

finesse custom certate 2506 is what the name states a finesse reel, shallow spool max drag of 2kg or something around that, lighter than standard certate and the 2500r custom is like a mini bull stopper, the r means 2500 sized spool 3000 sized body, massive drag pressures etc.

Thanks for that. Im pretty sure i am just after the standard certate. I do not want the "R" model, and not the finesse either.

Thanks for any help. Still interested in peoples opinions.

Are you determined to get a 2500 reel? If so id go the Luvias for weight issues otherwise something like a 1000 Certate would be nice.

You also could pick up a second hand Steez for under $600

EDIT: Sorry didnt see you wanted that particular size for Bass. IMO id go the Luvias for weight issues as mentioned but you should also go into a tackle store and have a feel of both a Luvias and Certate and see if the weight bothers you,

Certate 2500. Little bit heavier, but a lot more heavy duty. Heavier drag pressure, etc and super smooth.

Hmmm... looks like i might be leaning towards the luvias then.

I do like the idea of the weight reduction, however at the current time i can get a good deal with the certate... so im still unsure what to get.

Has anyone owned both of these reels (or even just one of them) and would be able to give me a run down on how the go??

Cheers,
Dom

Does anyone know how many of the certate's 9 bearings are CRBB??

I can't find the stats anywhere. I knwo the luvias has 7 ball bearings (not including roller bearings) of which 4 are CRBB. But i have no idea about the certate??

Any help will be greately appreciated.

cheers,
Dom
