leaking oil

gday all ive recently had a service done and been out twice boats been sitting for a couple of days and just noticed oil has been leaking out from behind the prop and dripping down one of the blades is this bad news?

If it's a 2t have you checked it's not just oil out of the exhaust

yeah its a 2 stroke, ive had oil leak out of the prop before after its been muffed/washed but never from were its leaking from at the moment just trying to not have kittens.

Sounds like the gearbox seal is leaking. Remove the propellor and have a look at it. You should see it weeping oil if it is gone. Depending on outboard make/model you can remove the fill plug from the gearbox to confirm it has infact dropped its level and also see if the oil shows sign of water ingress. If the oil is milky it has got water in the oil and needs a good flush. Could have picked up some fishing line on your prop shaft, it will destroy the seal in no time.

just done whats been suggested yep and your right its leaking oil from the seal yay more money!!! thanks for the replies.

thanks to everyone for your advice/help boat motor has been repaired another 150 bananas!!! the best part was when the mechanic said he hadnt even checked if it even went in gear and the boat had been pushed hard up against a wall using my newly repaired outboard as a chock.
