Hey mate. What exactly do you mean when you say "early production model"? Something slightly different to the exact rods that will be retailing?

i'd say it would be the same rod as the ones that will be coming soon, just it was one of the first off the line. Also hears there are only 30 of each model coming in the initial shipment and alot are already accounted for. Next shipment would be either late this year or early next year.

Early next year? Hardly 'Winter 2013' as advertised by Daiwa. They've blown the timelines on this project.

Compile X.......

Something worth noting. Any mention of Compile-X in the new Daiwa release catalog for the Battler series has now been dropped. Perhaps included by mistake as advertised on their website, (though still there). And its not stamped on the little plaque that sits in the reel seat. Id assume that means the Tournament AGS and Battler blanks although both SVF are actually quite different. Ive also been told that that will account for some of the price difference between the two rods.

Old info - http://daiwafishing.com.au/team-daiwa-battler/

New (page 26-27) - http://daiwafishing.com.au/catalogue...s/indexPop.htm

Just thought it was worth a mention.

It was on display at AFTA, awesome feeling bit of gear. Fairly weighty due to all the machined trim pieces but felt amazing in the hand and look unreal!
