Not to be biased but this is what works for me

berkley gulp:3 inch claw in mango ripple
berkley gulp:2 inch shrimp in natural and new penny
berkley gulp: 3 inch minnow in pumpkinseed
Atomic: 3 inch prong in shrimp core

I rig all these on 1/16 jig heads.

I can't write a list but.

For the Nong: Make sure you have Gulp 6inch Camo Worms. I could not reccommend these enough. Its not fancy or expensive but it works well.

squidgy: wrigglers- 80mm or 65mm size

as for jigheads i use the 4 policy

1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 1/16, 1/20

which gulp have you used?

Notice there is a camo worm used in my avatar pic, that is a decent sized bream.

Ohgotcha,

Just cause youv'e used em and haven't caught fish doesn't mean they don't work. Selecting a plastic is only part of the puzzle

Think about where you are presenting your plastic, what size leader and jighead.

Once you start to get a few your confidence will increase, better yet try and hook up with someone local in your area and get them to give you a few pointers. Its just not as easy as putting on a plastic chucking it into the water and ripping out fish.

I like the gulp prawns 2inch Banna and pepper prawn, if there is little or no current I use a 1/40th hidden weight and go up to 1/8th according to current and wind. I also like the 2inch worm in motor oil, again 1/24 hidden weight if I get away with it. The new 2inch attomic prongs in old penny have got me a few fish of late as well.

With the prawns, dead sticking with the odd flick if there is a little water movement. Most hits will come on the pause. With the prongs, I like to use short flicks and pauses. Fish as light a leader as possible, even the braid or flouro you use on your main line the lighter it is the longer you will cast.

Experiment a bit till you find out what works best for you.

Do ya self a favour and have a look through the Vic Hotspots and see what other people are using.

For some reason i haven't heard any reports with the Gulp Shrimp catching fish in the nong. I know the work and do catch a lot of fish but don't seem to be a 'go to' lure in the nong.

The Maribyrnong river is definitely a hard body river but plastics do work.

The most used soft bait used would have to be the humble Gulp 6" Sandworm but that cos people are really really comfortable with it...... and it does catch fish.

As for other lures (and no specific colours), try Atomic Fat Grubs, Squidgy Wrigglers and Critters, the cheaper Mojo Grubs, Berkley Powerbaits, and i have had some recent (well recent enough) joy with the Squidgy Bugs.

But still do a search through the Vic Hotspots, it doesn't matter how old the post is if its caught a fish once it'll do it again.
