What two stroke oil do you use?

Just wondering what two stroke oil everyone uses in their motors?

Valvoline, Castrol, Mobil, Shell, Penzoil or the manufacturers brand or another?

G'Day Nick

I used to run Valvoline oil for the last 12 years but changed to yamalube when i put the 85 hp on the cadillac as it is oil injected, and the yamalube suits oil injection or so it says, also $2 cheaper.
Are you fishing the mallacota round, and adelaide?

Using the manufacturers oil- I run a merc so im using quicksilver premium 2 stroke oil. The outboard has a resevior i fill and it injects oil at the correct ratio. Im also running BP ultimate fuel.

Thumbs up

Hi Nick

I run Valvoline HP 2 stroke outboard oil in the 75hp oil injected Mariner. Quite happy with it and it appears to be close in viscosity to the quicksilver oil, important because the oil injection pump is set to deliver the lubricant as per factory setup which of course was quicksilver oil. When we moved to Canberra I found that I had to travel to get Quicksilver oil and also had to pay through the nose for it. Consequently I started using Shell Nautilus and then Mobil but the viscosity wasn't a good match. So I gave the Valvoline a go as it was the preferred oil by KTM when I rode enduros and it never let me down.

You can even go to Valvoline Australia

and follow the Service products link to find the correct lubricants for you motor.

Question

Hi Rabbitoh

so your running a richer mix at 70:1 . I gather that it's not smokey ie: burns well?

Just for your info Yamalube is a thicker oil ie: greater viscosity so it makes sense to use a little more oil in the premix when using an aftermarket oil.

Gday madsurf, yeah it runs great, not smokey, i sometimes run at 50-1 but normally 70-1, i just dont trust 100-1 and think about it thats not much oil is it.

Hi Rabbitoh

I know what your saying as I ran a CV30 Yammy for close to 3 years on yamalube at 100:1. If I ever had to use another brand I ran at 50:1 but it was on rare occasions. The Valvoline works well in our Mariner and easy to get down at Supercheap Auto.
