Interchangeability of spools on Shimano reels

With the Daiwa Real Four, one of the advantages is that we can interchange the spools across reels (within size limits) ranging from the Exceler to Exist. I take it with Shimano reels, every model has a distinct spool? Can you interchange spools in the Shimano range at all?

Pretty sure 2500 and 3000 spools are interchangeable. 3000 spools are deeper than the 2500's. I also think 4000 and 5000 spools are interchangeable, again the 5000 spool is deeper than the 4000.

not 100%... i have a sienna 2500 3kg drag and bought a symmetre 2500 5kg drag spool for a quick drag upgrade... but the spool has a deeper cavity for the drag nob and did not fit, so im getting a symmetre drag knob to see if it works/fits. i'll keep you posted.

Limited interchangeability across platforms.

P.S. Stella is in a class of its own.

Are you sure? I tried putting the Stella FE spool on a JDM Twinpower. It seems to fit perfect, but you couldn't get the full drag range when you tightened the drag to the max. And then the spool would contact the rotor at the bottom of the oscillation.
