Hey Guys.
Doing heaps of redfin fishing at present. getting plenty and size is great. A good time to try some new lures, plastics or bait love to hear what you catch them on. Ta Seano |

Anything! spinner blade lures, minnows, grubs, stickbaits, small poppers, you name it i rekon a redfin would have a go, they will hit lures bigger than themselves. For the fun aspect i'd use topwater lures like a Smith Towadi or R2S bubble pop 45, but get some small minnow lures too, no need to spend a fortune on the lures (kinda contradicts my Towadi recommendation) Halco Scorps, Strike Pros, basically any lure that you'd use for bream.

stickbaits like bassminnows and squidgy flickbaits have been by far the best for me.
few good flicks then a pause and it generally gets taken on the pause and the next flick in the retrieve sets the hook |

Anything basically..... They're not a fussy fish, I'd say basically anything I've used for 'em works. Berkley nymphs and hawgs are good in dams where mudeye's are common, also good when a rogue trout takes a fancy to one too

At the first leccy round, I tried a heap of bassfishing techniques like throwing jackalls (expensive when snagged and its only a redfin comp) spinnerbaits- no joy, trolled and cast fat little crankbaits (biggest fish) and threw bright red gladiator plastics on some banks and got my bag of ten with a heap of little ones. I found that since it was early in the season they fish werent very recptive to most of them. Now that the water levels are lower, I would be inclined to try them again for sure. Give them a go |

Redfin (perch) are not the most finicky fish about. They'll hit pretty much anything when in the mood, but I've found curltail grubs and bladed spinners to be best.
A combination of the two is awesome, so smaller spinnerbaits and spinner/grubtail combos are excellent. Another thing to remember is that they LOVE the colour red! Red wool on spinner trebles, red grubs, red painted blades/red spots on blades. Try them. |

Anything with a hook in it. Just try everything - if they are nearby chances are they will hit it. To prove the theory to my mate I put a hook in a wine cork and it got drilled on Harvey Dam......
They hit the lure hard, but the fight is pathetic. Nice eating fish though.
