As someone who is probably gonna end up buying a few packs when they come out, a question I have is - so what is so special and different about the whip bait versus fish or shad? The video didn't make it clear. There appears to be no niche it is filling.

It comes with S factor

Honestly I can't see thses being as good as the original fish, not enough shape definition, there is just something about the fish profile that fish seem to react to.

I don't think so. They also have Squidgie Slick Rigs which is as basic as you can get. Simply tie it on lol.

-------------

So far my opinion of the fish-like lures from Squidgie are as follows:

Fish - swim realistically, can be hopped hard and still retain action. Slow rolling gets it working too

Shad - needs to be ripped moderately hard to get the tail kicking. The plastic is harder (+ smaller tail that doesn't catch as much water as fish) and I think that is preventing it from swimming. Cannot be slow rolled - mine don't swim. Needs a heavier jighead for swimming action to work on the drop

Slick rigs - The ones I have got have been okay. However, the larger ones are prone to spiralling. I attribute this to the sharp nose on the lure which directs the water randomly over the lure. I think the swimming action is more pronounced due to the large tail paddle. It is larger than fish.
