Duffrods Docks

Hi Guys,

I got my Docks 781 a few weeks ago and have been testing it out in the Harbour. Its 6'6" and rated 2-6kg. I got it built with fuji K guides all the way through so I can run a heavier leader for bass in heavy structure aswell as bream. Unfortunately I have not been able to put it through its paces on many kg+ bream but on the few that I have got I have been very impressed. I was worried about the rod being too heavy in the tip and thought it may be too heavy to throw light hidden weight plastics, I was very wrong! I can throw anything from about 1/4oz to 1/60th hidden weights and it doesnt feel really stiff when casting the really light jig heads like some other rods with power do.

This has a XXfast taper and locks up pretty quick. The butt section of the rod is really thick and provides heaps of power for ripping those thumper bream from cover.

I have been using mine for nearly all my soft plastic work lately, it has a supprisingly light tip that allows me to fish hulls, pontoons and banks without feeling like I am overpowered.

I think I told poor Joel that I loved this rod about 400 times last week (sorry Joel)

If you are looking for a rod for big bream close to structure this is a standout in my opinion.

There are a few guys that have ordered these latley, hope they like theirs as much as I like mine

Cheers
Chris

I know this might sound like a stupid question though what blanks does Steve use or do you choose the blank or what?

Sounds like a weapon, hopefully you will be able to put it through its paces on some 3lb+ models soon.

Saw Chris down at the ramp over the weekend and picked up this rod for a quick inspection. Feels great in the hand and balanced really well with a 2004 Daiwa reel. Definetly got me thinking of buying one for them dock bream!

Not a stupid question. Steve sources his own blanks, I have never asked to use a different blank before. My preference is the Xfast blanks that Steve uses for some of his rods. I have 2 that are a slower taper and they are really good as well. He pretty much has something really good for every purpose so the doesn't seem to be a need to source my own blanks

Cheers
Chris
