Few fit out questions!! And 399 Stacer Proline

Hey guys. Over next winter i'm looking at getting a new boat with:
-Bow mount electric motor
-Storage
-Front Casting Deck
I was thinking maybe a 399 stacer proline.. How much am i expecting to pay for a second hand one of these. Or are there any boats similar to this that i should also look out for..

Or

Should i find a boat and get it as a project for over winter?? Is it easy to make a front casting deck with storage?? How much should i expect to pay a welder to do the welding for it for??

Thanks guys!

Dezza,

There are many v nose boats to choose from, savage jabirus, quinny explorers, stacer prolines, mako crafts...

i am a believer in buying boats over winter, you get better deals, people can and will charge more for boats over the summer, simply because the demand is there.

do all the work your self, its fun you learn, you save money and its rewarding.

as for the welding, its expensive, 1000 up for decks, there is another option to get you on the water... rivets, set up your frames and then rivet it all up to the ribs, then cu tout your ply n carpet them and screw them down it will then give it a lot more strength, then down the track you can get it welded as you have already cut and assembelled it the welder can go around and tack it all up it will then take him no time at all...

That's what you need to keep the eyes out for - he's got the boat at least ready for what you do - Can you see yourself in this boat in the future? the gear to go - size?, useability? towability? locality? do they match?, think about where your next dollar is spent. maybe right, maybe wrong for you???

Gday there Dezza. I have just completed a similair project of a Stacer Proline 395. The boat was bought over winter when the market is at it lowest, and built over over the last couple of months.

The project was extremely rewarding, so dont be affraid to give it a go. The only thing is that you have to be certain that you want to undertake such a project, cause once you start, there is no going back. You will more than likley find, most of the rigs that come as a complete package sell relatively quick if they are at the right price, and alot of them through word of mouth, even before they hit the classifieds.

The kit for the build can become quiet costly so it pays to do some footwork and budget the cost of the aluminium, marine ply, carpets and electrics. Depending on what you are trying to acheive, it should still come under budget, in comparison to a factory pre built steup. But it must be approached in the correct manner

Cheers Nick
