Minn Kota Foot Pedal Magnets Rusting Away...No Need To Buy Another Pedal!

Just a heads up to those who don't all ready know...When the magnet in the riptide kota foot pedals rust's away and you have no speed, you can order in a new magnet and replace it instead of purchasing a new foot pedal!

Only just found this out yesterday...Wish I knew this ages ago before I brought three foot pedals in the last couple of years due to the same problem!

There are 2 magnets, one on top of the board and one directly underneath it. They attract each other, the top one sits in the arm which comes off the speed control.

Bumping an old thread but just bought a new boat and upon pulling apart the pedal found these rusted. Thanks for this Sexton, saved me a lot of $

Any idea if you can buy a standard magnet set somewhere or has to be Minn Kota specific?

V2 pedal speed control modification

Yeah ive been there with rusty magnets too. Once the speed control board is warped/worn away you can rewire the cable to a speed control pot. Under 10 bucks and dont have to shift your foot off the pedal! I can post more details on request.
