Haha ... actually it's hard to say. I really like Daiwa stuff, but I also like some of the Shimano range too. I have owned the premium models from both manufacturers and really there wasn't a whole lot of difference between them, IMO. I own and mostly use 6 Certates in various sizes, so I suppose that says something.

Funny you should mention that, I only just yesterday heard someone say that their Saltiga came back to them fully serviced and repaired in less than 2 weeks from the day it was sent.

I only know about that one person (who shall remain Manno) that sold all his Daiwa reels due to one bad experience with Daiwa Service.
