unfortunately no - we were more concerned about poisonous fumes and possible explosions at the time! just imagine 2 guys with jumpers over mouths, safety glasses and welding gloves pouring molten lead from a milo tin into a plaster mould in a 2l coke bottle with smoke going everywhere....a classic moment in backyard manufacturing!!
we thought for sure it was going to just be a blob of crud but it worked out unreal - we did panic and stop the pour at one stage which resulted in that big crack towards the back of the head....amateur mistake.
hopefully that's the first and last time I ever smear vaseline on a carp!! it was all worth it (assuming we don't have lead poisoning), our little comp amongst a dozen or so blokes has been going for 7-8 years now and that trophy is highly sort after for bragging rights every year
