does anyone use the 5 turn surgeons knot?

Fellas,
Just watched the berkley royter video (fark he is annoying! - freak caster though) and saw the 5 turn surgeons knot for tying leaders. Does anyone use this and can it be used to tie braid onto backing as well as the leader? It looks a piece of piss to tie and would run through the guides nicely...
