Monte November 2014

Heading to Montebello Islands with half a dozen mates in November on a charter for 6 nights with Port Bouvard Charters.Got myself setup so far with Catalina 4500h loaded with Saltiga 60lb PE and Catalina CH79S (50lb) rod.

Would be greatly appreciated if anyone can provide their suggestions on best mix of lures to take for chasing species like Dhufish, Breaksea Cod, Pink Snapper, Red Snapper, Queen Snapper etc? A couple of the boys have some big placcies they are going to take but I really don't have much of an idea and would like to maximize my chances.

Haven't been there myself but the species you mention are more southern half of West Oz types of fish say Shark bay down apart from the pink snapper. At the Monties your more likely to encounter Northern Species such as red emperor and all other emperors, coral trout, cod, and pelagics such as mackies, GTs tuna etc.
As for lures some big Halcos or Rapalas for trolling (Red Heads, natural and other colours) as well as some metals for casting at tuna schools. For demersals you cant go wrong with some Mcarthy soft plastics and some of the larger Z Man range I guess. If all else fails chuck on some bait
Your rod and reel combo will do nicely also
Hope the sharks aren't to bad and all the best for the trip

Thanks very much for the info, looks like I have a fair bit of research to do between now and November. So can't wait.

No worries .Don't rack your brains to much. That charter has a pretty good rep down this way I believe and usually they like to mix it up a bit when fishing northern waters with a bit of trolling here and some bottom bouncing there and at the Monties you could and will catch anything from squid to sailfish and marlin.
