Yep chuck it out immediately. Get a placcy one and obviously you will never have the problem again. Make sure fuel line is clean and the !! in the engine..................well that's not my domain - Trouty you there?

Thumbs up yEP

Get a plastic tank....

One of the BEST things you can do to protect yourself from problems with fuel supply (and water crud etc getting into your fuel pump carburettor) is to fit a racor water separating fuel filter to your boat. They aren't that dear - and in terms of the strife they will save you - they are worth their weight in gold.

If you end up having to get the carb serviced by a marine mechanic, it would pay you to get an inline racor filter installed - that way - you won't be back with problems in the fuel department any time soon.

Something else to consider...

with 2 strokes - where the oil is mixed with the fuel in the tank....
that means you have oil in solution inside the fuel line.

When stored for lengthy periods and not used - the oil separates out of suspension in the fuel and settles in the bottom of the hose.

Over the years it builds up and hardens, particularly, if the fuel hose end is open and the fuel evaporates out in the heat of summer etc..

The hard oil makes a crud that sets hard like mud basically.

Thats fine as long as it stays there - but IF you kink your fuel hose while in use, or put something (like a seat or esky etc on the hose and then sit on it thus crushing the fuel line), the hard oil sludge crud flakes off the inside of the fuel hose - and gets to the fuel pump then carby and blocks the jets again.

This is another potential problem that the racor inline filter will eleviate.

It's not a bad idea to replace your fuel line every few years.

Another thing - you don't need a hole in your fuel tank to get water in the fuel. It will condense out of the moist air drawn into the tank while underway as the fuel is used. It will condense out of the air drawn into the tank as fuel evaporates out of your tank while just sitting stored in your shed (which is why you should store boats with fuel tanks full...especially those with underfloor fuel tanks, which are MUCH harder to get the crud and water out of than a portable tank!).

The Racor filter will remove this water before it gets to fill your carby bowl up and stop the motor.

All of these causes can leave you stuck on the water and the racor filter will help make sure your valuable fishing time isn't spent paddling or rowing home.

So - once you get this OB fixed, maybe invest in a Racor filter, it can be used on another boat or a new outboard later on so it isn't a wasted investement.

Cheers!

Sorry about my earlier indiscretion Bear. Sh*t appears in the dictionary as a "contemptible worthless person or thing". I considered the term most appropriate for the cr*p in Nath's fuel tank. I guess I got complacent from other forums where this word is not considered offensive.

However, you have my most humble apology for my articulation, in type, of a word that some deem to be most odious and inept in this summit.

Question Hmmmm

Sugar I hope!,
Tobacco I think?

Ohh Sheeeeet beegorrah - I can tell bye the stink!

Lets face it - if we didn't give Bears itchy trigger finger some excericise once in a while deleting a post or two - he'd get a complex about being redundant...

I'm sure he appreciates the meaing we add to his daily existence keeping us all PC (policitcally correct).

Whens ya birfday Bear - we'll hafta get you a T shirt with "Thought Police" on it! he he he

Maybe we all get shirts with " I been Mooderated by Bear" on it - with little clusters of 5 strokes in groupls like a picket fence to keep tally!

Cheers!

Thumbs up Of course they do a good job

But - without us....they'd have nuthin to do!

What goods an army, if you got no enemy?

Without us - Bear would cease to exist...we litterally are his reason for existence...without us mooderateee's, there would be no mooderators!!!

I sleep tight at night knowing my mere presence helps keep my fellow anglers employed...

I been mooderated by the best!

Jeeze I nearly died - I saw Hotbite website made 'The Mullet' a mooderator????..
Thats like putting Jack Nicholson in charge a Heathcote!

Ohh well - what do they say? - ohhh to live in interesting times!.

Cheers!

To be honest, I'd rather have nothing to do and I find getting Report e-mails from users more than a bit of a pain.

Stu, I don't mind the occasional slip, but we've had a few parent complaints about constant and unnecessary swearing which they feel should not be read by their kids. While I can't go through every post, and I don't think I should, I and the others do what we think is the best for the site.

Most of the time we Moderators don't have too much to do, which is great by me as I have better things to do. Those who think they think we enjoy getting up poeple should go looking for a better hobby instead of posting crap here.

Fair comment Bear. I feel like I've lost my cherry now I have been moderated for the first time (that I know of). I'm obviously too straight posting 200+ times and never slipped; until now All gibberish aside you do a good (and essential job) to keep us rabble in line. But that doesn't mean you can post up rubbish like that last joke Bear - that should have been moderated - same rules for all I'm suprised the same parents didn't complain about that lol
