I dont use Flouro straight through but here are my imagined benefits

No tying leader knots - a bit more stretch in the system to absorb lunges - no braid to spook the fish before the lure gets to them etc

^^^ What YD said partially. Not sure on the spooking of fish with braid but definitely the no leader knot and the 'stretch' factor. Regards, HBt.

Fluorocarbon also sinks which might help if you're fishing SPs with very light jigheads.I've tried it and liked it although found it became very twisty, might have been a characteristic of the brand I was using.

Hi Howard, always been a braid and FG knot man myself but always wondered if it would be worth the exercise to change. If you could post up how you find it in the coming months we would appreciate it. My thoughts are with the Whiting at Blackmans Point, poor devils are going to get a caning i suspect.

3 lb line will be great fun on the bream, I rarely catch whiting on lures. Flathead could be expensive !!!! I see a learning curve coming up !!!!! I still have my 1 to 3 KG rods with Braid and 4 lb leader !! But they don't throw the sub 4 gram lures that well !!

Think i had better send you a gift voucher for some Christmas lures as i also fear the Flathead and Long Toms could take a toll. Hope you catch heaps of Bream on the light gear though would be fun. We have had quite a few accidental captures the last several weeks in the Maria.

Most of my light gear has a bite leader on it. 20 c/m of 8 lb. Thats because whether I say Im chasing Bream or not. I usually catch a few Flathead.
My 4 lb braid outfits are the same. There are just too many of them around not to. Im starting to Question my sanity. I use the light leaders and line to get more distance.
