eletric motors

Hi guys thinking of up dateing my electric motor. I currently have a minn koata 55 auto pilot. It struggles at times against wind and tide. Thinking of going motor guide do you think x15-55sw 12v would be alright or should I go into x15-80 sw 24v . I have a 4.5 topender 60 hp 4 stroke yammyQuintrex. the spot lock feature should help me. I want to have enough power to hold position and troll with the electric up the creeks

I'm running the 55lb motorguide Xi5 GPS model on my 475 bluefin Viking with a 60hp Merc 4 stroke and can hold with spot lock offshore. Can't rate it highly enough!

55 pounds of thrust on each motor. Go 24 volt and you wont look back.

A few mates have just stepped up to 80lb mk & mg. 55lb is enough up the creeks but the 80 is so much better when jigging for fish only meters away from rocks, cliff faces with swell and current raging past

My Makocraft 440 frenzy has a minnkota 55lb motor and it is fine for 90% of the fishing I do. Sure there may be times when the tide is running hard, or the wind is blowing from the side that an 80lb may be better, but assess how many times this may happen and compare this with the extra battery and weight you will need to add. My 110amp hour battery weighs 40kg, so double that.
